Operation PnE

Two weeks of blue skies... looks like the Resistance is not letting the anchors decay this time. Previously, they would just let the anchor decay after a week or two, this time, its different… and with the release of iOS for Ingress, and the influx of new players, this was not going smoothly to level up new players.

Majority of the base anchors were located North-East of the Cebu island, on a group of islands called Camotes. The Camotes islands have two large islands being connected in the middle with a bridge. Two major link anchors were located in these  islands; the western bottom and eastern corner of the island, those had to be taken out for the city of Cebu to be free from the blue field that has been plaguing us.

The plan was put together on the week before the Saturday target execution date, 4 - 5 days prior planning. It had to be that weekend since one of our agents, TededitTededit, was going south of Cebu, to a town called Dalaguete. We have keys to the portals there and after checking the town location relative to Camotes Island, it was possible to create at most 7 layered fields over Cebu via Dalaguete-Samar-Camotes island points, totally blanketing the city in green and rendering the roads invisible in the scanner. Cebu Enlightened intel officer, ChaozOne was given the signal to start creating the plotting blueprint... a day after, the blueprint was delivered. ChaozOne did raise one issue, the Dalaguete anchor is just a few hours from Cebu City and predicted that that it will be taken out on that day. Knowing this, the group still decided to push through with the operation; the main task was to take out the blue field anyway, the 7 layer green field was to be a bonus.

Next, keys were needed to be checked.  Samar has one portal to be used as anchor. Dalaguete has 1 portal to be used as anchor. Camotes has eight portals, seven were to be used as anchors. Since our agents has never been to Camotes to farm keys, the logical step was to have keys to Samar and Dalaguete portals. The final tally? Dalaguete agent TededitTededit will have 1 Samar key, Camotes agents will have 7 Dalaguete keys and 7 Samar keys. Who will be going to Camotes?

Volunteers were asked to go to Camotes Island; four agents came to the call, Aristutle,  cogitare,  Soliloquium and Chefion  a level 13 visitor from Australia. They were given the important task to link the field from the Camotes islands. 

While preparation for the Camotes team were on going. ChaozOne had to check for blocking links along the link paths, and there were a lot to be taken out or be left to decay. Of those that can’t be left to decay, at least five had to be taken out via ADA refactor, sweepers were being called to the join the operation. These sweepers were grouped into three teams, South Cebu Team - Looowrider  and botrani; Cebu City proper - Beybigurl  and Mactan Team - Rayvier,  Bansoy, Ukoy, omang , s6t6n6s . They were only given one task, ADA the portal on the given signal at_the_same_time.

D-Day Funnies
Camotes agents had to wake up early to catch the first boat to Camotes Islands... which they missed ((facepalm)), they had to take the 2nd boat. The execution time had to be moved 1 hour later. They arrived almost 10 and still had to move to their assigned portals before execution. Funnies #2, without telling intel, agents Aristutle switched places with agent Chefion, the execution wouldn’t change but the surprise on the intel in charge was priceless. Chefion was also hard to contact during his travel to the last portal, it took time and agents were getting worried if he can get there in time. Thankfully he did, few minutes before 11 and the signal was given to everyone to go on alert. 11:24AM and the signal was given to all sweepers to take out blocking links synchronously, reports then came pouring in as each portals were successfully taken out. 11:26AM TededitTededit had to ADA a portal with blocking link first then linked to Samar portal, as the link to Samar when up, Aristutle was then given the signal to start closing the field, (field A). After Aristutle closed the first field, agents cogitare and Soliloquium were safe to start layering their assigned fields ( fields B, C, D ). 11:44AM time completion first batch of multi-layered field a, b, c & d. 

Next, Aristutle had to move to the next portal ( field F ) as well as cogitare and Soliloquium ( field E ), this takes time since travel between portals takes at least 10 - 20 min.  cogitare and Soliloquium then closed their last assigned layer ( field E ) as well as Aristutle’s last layer ( field F ), Chefion, being in the outermost portal, had nothing to do but wait most of the time and soon was given the signal to close the last layer ( field G ). Ops complete! 7 mulit layered field over Cebu via Dalaguete-Samar-Camotes Islands. Final execution time 12:52PM, 1hr and 26min to complete. Time for R-n-R, agents Aristutle, cogitare, Soliloquium and Chefion met in one of the public beach resort for their well deserved lunch and rest. Funnies #3, Chefion , was not informed which public beach to meet since they all traveled separately, and being the farthest anchor portal didn’t help, it took some google maps + gps to help him find the right beach.

The field was taken down 3 hours later by a team of res headed by crazymario to the Dalaguete anchor.

Surprise Visitors
Two days before the operation, we had visitors from manila...and not just any visitor, one of the member of a famous local band Parokya ni Edgar and his girlfriend came by to Cebu… Gab(gabnomods) and Kha(khamaia), for two nights we went to meet them and have fun together.

They were leaving on that Saturday of the planned operation, bad timing since they wanted to join the ops too. While discussing the operation codename, different names came popping out but later we agreed to named the operation after them, Operation PnE (Parokya ni Edgar) and was it coincidence? The time the first field went up was their flight departure time from Cebu to Davao, Clear. Green. Skies. for them.
