Res players visited Catarman yesterday. They arrived around afternoon and reached their target in Bobon at around 10pm. We found out these 2 Resistance agents were minors. Our team met with them and overheard them talking that they did not ask permission from their parents to go to Catarman but to go to a retreat.
They reached Catarman town around 11pm and we found out that they were hungry and out of money. They still wanted to go around the town, so out of concern for the safety of these kids, our team accompanied them. After going around town, our team brought them back to the hotel. (I will translate what ensued at COMMS to English to the best of my ability, you may refer to the attached screenshot for the actual conversation in Tagalog)

08:45@RESKid2 You don’t know that it’s dangerous there at the marker. Even we don’t stay there long. (It’s already late at night 11pm+, no cars around and at the outskirt of town. That area is a mix of residential and business establishments, people there are very wary of thieves or rebels. The kids might get mistaken for either one of them, especially they’re new to the area, standing around and fiddling on their cellphones.)

Any thoughts guys? This is just so wrong for me and my team in Samar. I do not want these kids to get in trouble and that is not my intention of this post. I am sure there are other kids playing Ingress, I just hope this will help and remind others that Ingress may take us parts to unknown and discovery. But safety first and practice good judgement. And to the team leaders or mentors, please take care of your mentees. Even if they volunteer, especially the kids, do not just give them money and send them on their own. What if things went sideways for this kids along the way? I shudder at the thought of it. But things need to be clear and as a community we need to address situations like this.
